The international media attention toward this campaign and the New York City Landmarks Commission’s uncertain decision regarding the final buildings on Washington Street is growing. In recent days, both the BBC World Service (Jane O’Brien) and Al-Jazeera (Kristen Saloomey) have produced news segments on the preservation crisis that have reached millions of people around the world.

Here is the Al-Jazeera piece, and the BBC segment can be viewed by following this link.

While clearly the Little Syria story is of interest to people in many countries (especially those whom the Washington Street residents had an impact on), our key goal is to educate the American people — through the preservation of these important buildings in such a crucial location — about the long role of Arabs in American society. We need American media, television in particular, to tell this story and describe this campaign. Please contact us at +1 857.234.0920 (Todd Fine) if you have any ideas on reaching a major American television network with this crucial, time-sensitive story.
